Cemetery Circle
Children in a cemetery
Running quickly through the snow
Running, laughing, full of life,
Dancing on graves of the dead below
The old ones watch with glued-shut eyes
With hands sewn closed,
Holding unsaid good-bye's
Once so young so full of life
Dancing over those below
And now there is nothing left
But faded footprints in the snow
Children laughing, singing softly
The sun is shining on this strange day
This peacefulness isn't noticed, oddly
In the cemetery, as the children play
The old ones watch with missing eyes
With dried-up tongues
For unheard cries
Once so young so full of life,
Dancing over those below
Now they lie decaying slowly,
No more footprints in the snow.
Children in a cemetery
Dance on graves covered in snow
Oblivious to the world around them
Unaware of the ones below
Children dance on snowy graves,
But how little do they know,
How soon they will be rotting slowly,
Lying dead, six feet below
Then they'll watch with glued-shut eyes,
With dried-up tongues, and unsaid good-bye's
As children come running in the snow
To dance on the graves of those below
